Description

This training provides a detailed overview of the new version of IP, offering a structured presentation of the IPv6 protocol and the new concepts it introduces. This course also covers the related protocols that facilitate communication using the IPv6 protocol, such as Neighbor Discovery and Stateless Address Autoconfiguration. Techniques related to the IPv6 coexistence with IPv4 are also detailed: dual-stack, tunnelling and translation mechanisms. Lab sessions are used to verify and reinforce the theory presented in the training.
After completing the course, a certificate
is issued on the Luxoft Training form

Objectives

  • Identify the improvements made to the IPv6 header vs. IPv4 header
  • Understand the usage of IPv6 Extension Headers
  • Understand the IPv6 addressing scheme
  • Understand IPv6 Neighbor Discovery functionality
  • Recognize how/when various tables are populated from Neighbor Discovery messages
  • Describe the stateless mode of configuring IPv6 addresses and when it applies
  • Understand the basic mechanisms under the IPv6 address selection
  • Identify the IPv6 transition mechanisms and understand how they works

Target Audience

  • People involved in implementing and maintaining systems using IPv6
  • Technical support personnel
  • System engineers
  • Network administrators
  • Integration specialists

Prerequisites

General IP routing (and switching) knowledge (TCP/IP foundation)
