Description

This 8-hour course on Change Management in Project Management provides a comprehensive understanding of the importance of change management in IT, and how to effectively manage changes in a project. The course covers the process plan, set up of the change request from customer side, and requirements.

It also focuses on leading through change, the importance of change management, best practices for a change management plan, and change management processes. Additionally, the course addresses the impact of change requests on project scope and how to prevent scope creep.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the importance of change management in IT projects.
  2. Develop an effective process plan for managing changes in a project.
  3. Set up a change request from the customer side and identify requirements.
  4. Lead through change and understand the importance of effective change management.
  5. Develop a best practices change management plan.
  6. Understand the PD-06-3-01-0-LUX change management process plan.
  7. Identify the impact of change requests on project scope and learn strategies to prevent scope creep.

Target Audience

  • Project group leaders who have recently been promoted to project managers or are going to perform this role in the near future;
  • Project managers and project group leaders with some experience in project management, who are open to acquiring new and reinforcing existing knowledge (as well as current skills) in order to perform their responsibilities more effectively;
  • Leading technical specialists who are preparing to perform the role of a project manager or project group leader (personnel reserve).

The expected level of participants’ experience is indicated in the Prerequisites.

Prerequisites

  • Have experience in participating in projects of any kind;
  • The absence of practical experience is allowed if compensated by preliminary theoretical preparation, active interest in the topic, and readiness to use all efforts to keep up with the rest of the participants (who likely have more experience).

Total: Theory 3h (38%), Practice 5h (62%). There are optional tasks used depending on group requests.
